As a great title sequence once said, “the annual problem of our generation is finding a good way to spend [summer]”. I’m obviously talking about Phineas & Ferb. This is a fantastic show and pseudo-musical. Growing up, I wish I was as talented as either one of the stepbrothers. This show was revolutionary for Disney Channel, surpassed by maybe only Gravity Falls; my friend Anne and I always argue which show is better. (Gravity Falls is better, but I’m blogging about Phineas & Ferb because I’m currently watching that.) Heads up, I’m only talking about Doofenshmirtz and the pseudo-musical aspect of the show.
I would like to take a section and talk about the main antagonist of the series {pause for dramatic effect} [dramatically and loud]… Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz!!! This guy is a ridiculous villain who cannot recognize his arch-nemesis, Agent P, without his fedora, despite Agent P being the only platypus that has ever attacked Doofenshmirtz. This is like an insecure and sometimes-evil adult Phineas. All of his backstories, despite normally being tragic, his emphasis and memories are hilarious. His only goal is to rule over the Tri-State Area, despite being thwarted each and every time. Many times, his purpose in the episode is to provide a means for Phineas and Ferb’s projects to disappear at the end of the day.
My favorite song of the show would have to be a shared top position of Summer Belongs To You and Gitchi Gitchi Goo. For Summer Belongs To You, this may just me nostalgia because that was my all time favorite episode and I just recently got to it in the series. My top choice for Gitchi Gitchi Goo is just because if you think of the show’s songs, that one is the most iconic. Another song that is among my favorites is a short one by Doofenshmirtz and then the reprise of it: Hail, Hail, Doofania. It is short and, like all of Doofenshmirtz’s escapades, ridiculous. My question to all of my loyal readers (one or two… maybe three) is, what do you think of this iconic show? If you haven’t seen this show, WATCH IT NOW (it’s on Disney+)!!!
Hey Justin! This is one of my favorite shows that I used to watch as a kid! When there was nothing to do I would just turn on this show and all boredom would disappear. Doofenshmirtz is a character that I used to love and hearing all of his stories were so entertaining- especially balooney.
